Sneak Peek: Kanebo Kate Spring 2007 collection

I'm going to be honest and say that although I like Kanebo Testimo makeup Kanebo's other drugstore subline, Kate, has never wowed me except for the Kate Contrasting Eyes palette.

However, looking at some new offerings from Kate I may find myself having a change of heart.

Dual Carat eyeshadow

This is not a new item. It has been launched sometime this year, but I don't believe its been brought into Malaysia yet.

Its a palette with 2 shimmery eyeshadows in it and come in the colours shown above. The Gold one (large picture) has rave reviews and a friend of mine loves hers. So, I will definitely give this one a look when it comes in... when it does.

This is a picture of 2 new releases in the Dual Carat line. Neither really catch my fancy, but it might do yours!

Eyeshadow palette

This is a new inclusion into the Kate cosmetics line. From the pictures, I'm loving these! GD-1 (gold based), BR-1 (brown based) and BK-1 (grey/black based) are calling my name! In fact, BK-1 looks like it would be a lovely palette for a smokey eye look. Maybe with this one, I can finally practice and perfect it!

Gradational Eyes

BU-4

This is a new colour in an existing line. The colour looks to be a teal and turquoise shade in gradational colours. The light shade is a highlighter shade and the darker shade can be used for definition or to line. I have this line in another colour. The quality is great and colour is pigmented. Its not terribly expensive as well - approx RM42 (before discount - it usually goes on sale between 10-15% off) if I recall correctly.

Line Spicy palette

PU-2

This is a new colour combination in an existing line. I personally don't like this line but I know people who do. It retails at RM42.

There are some new lip colours as well but I personally find that Kate's lipsticks are pretty much overpriced for a drugstore item so I have never checked them out. Kate is available at Sasa and selected Watsons and sometimes goes on sale up to 15% off. I don't know when we can expect the above items though - Kate is very slow bringing in their new lines here.

I love Kate's eyeshadows - all of them! The packaging is VERY similar to Kanebo's but at a lower price. I suppose they are not that long lasting?

MJ - The few Kate i have actually are long-lasting and quality is great. I'm just not wow-ed by their colours :) Otherwise great value for money!

I first saw and used Kate when I was in Japan. Yep, it's definitely a low-end, drugstore brand for Kanebo, and it's really cheap, compared to the prices here. When I saw the prices here, I was like, "wahlau ... these were sold in Japan for only so-and-so yen!" :P

I guess that's the reason I don't buy Kate here, after knowing how cheap they are in Japan. My mind automatically converts from RM to yen, and I'd go "okay, not worth it here". Even though I'm probably never going to Japan again. Hehehe! :P
